This statement addressed earlier comments about providing long-range weapons to the Ukrainian military.

Diplomatic Moves and Global Responses

An ex- US state department official, a foreign policy expert, observed, "Putin is attempting to derail the progress toward increased sanctions on the Kremlin." Fried continued, "The outcome will become clear tomorrow, but the chances of achieving a truce by pressuring Moscow to engage sincerely appear to have decreased."

This situation came after Trump had in recent days been strengthening his language toward Russia until Thursday's call with the Russian president, which the Kremlin described as "extremely frank and trustful."

European Fuel Sanctions and Economic Effects

EU authorities have set a requirement for energy suppliers into the European Union to prove their products are not sourced from Russian crude, as stated in a document published on recently. This measure is included in the EU's forthcoming prohibition on imports of fuels made from Russian crude, which forms part of its latest sanctions package against Moscow over its war in Ukraine.

Market analysts observed that investment activity appeared to be factoring in the potential end of Indian purchases of Russian oil.
