Ways these Denver Broncos together with the malleable QB could stop the Kansas City Chiefs' reign.

Week six of the 2025 NFL season

Real-time updates includes live text for Sunday's games on various channels, beginning with the Broncos-Jets clash in London (from 14:00 BST). Also, radio commentary is available through designated networks for a separate game (beginning at 9 PM BST).

We're in the sixth week in the football calendar , after recent discussion about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as a potential Super Bowl match-up, each surrendered their unbeaten records.

Striking in those games was the number of penalties each conceded. Philadelphia did so in key moments so they essentially beat themselves having led 17-3 entering the fourth period against Denver, set to play in London this weekend.

However it proved good to observe that Denver's QB Bo Nix managed to overcome that deficit and then direct three scoring drives in three attempts during the final period, to win the game by four points.

The Broncos boast the defensive player of the year with CB their star corner. They are first in goal-line defense, whereas the Eagles lead the league in scoring near the end zone, yet Denver prevailed in that battle.

They had effective strategies in terms of disguised blitzes. They weren't always rushing extra pass rushers instead they could plug two LBs in the interior before withdrawing them and send a nickel from the outside.

At the start in the campaign, it was noted during a show that the Broncos could be this season's dark horses. They ended the previous year well and did a good job of building upon that.

Are the Denver Broncos this season's underdog story?

Recently acquired tight end Evan Engram has stepped up big while new RB their rusher is a player they believe in. He's currently 5th in the NFL in ground gains (402) as well as tied-fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).

It's impressive how head coach the Broncos' leader displays "RUSH!" prominently on his call sheet.

That shows how the Broncos represent a team aiming to prioritize the run, because you can achieve much off the back of that. It reduces down the pass rush while keeps you in favourable situations.

It's also benefited QB the young passer, who came into the league as a first-round selection last year, passing for 29 TDs – just behind Justin Herbert for the rookie record (31 back in 2020).

Other elite QBs have the arm strength to throw anywhere, however they lack the mobility as Nix. He has incredible passing ability, which is different, plus he is highly agile.

His assets include his mobility, being able to pass on the run, as well as using varied release points to deliver throws when he rolls outside protection, the bootlegs. He can deliver that layered pass across the middle or past defenders.

For a young quarterback, at 25, he displays great composure under pressure and is not bothered by extra rushers. He tries to evade being tackled whenever possible and is able pass in tight spots. He has a high football IQ and remains quick to decide.

If you constantly rush it consumes time and forces the defence to be on the field extended periods, and when you have an athletic quarterback the defence has to defend the area downfield side to side. This proves exhausting.

The quarterback has bitten back at Payton during games sometimes and it seems the coach appreciates that fire, seeing him as such a competitor. I think it's exciting for him to have a young quarterback that is kind of like moldable clay. The coach can really build something up the way he desires to shape him. I think it's a unique opportunity for him.

Payton has won a championship and now surpassed a legend for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He's seen it all. In my opinion the success Denver are having on offence is mostly down to his guidance, his schemes, his game sense – and the pairing with Nix helps shape him into who he is.

There's no better a better guy guiding you, to help you through difficult moments and build self-belief.

I have faith in the Broncos' defense, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet are they good enough to face an elite team at its best? Since that was not a Super Bowl performance by the Eagles in their last game.

Currently, I don't think Denver are elite. They're working above average, which is a good place to be in the AFC West. All they need is is maintain this path.

They're really good at leaning into their strength, that is running the ball, and this is precisely what they must do versus the New York Jets in London. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, in essence.

New York have allowed 140 rushing yards each contest (sixth worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (in the bottom ten), and they are the only team without a win any game.

Since the NFL started recording takeaways decades ago, this team are also the first team to go without a single takeaway through five games, this is surprising when you think that their new coach was previously defensive co-ordinator with another team.

Patrick Mahomes stated the Chiefs have 'already lost too many games' after a recent loss to Jacksonville.

Following this Sunday's game, Denver face a manageable slate until their break (in week twelve) - the Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans and Las Vegas Raiders prior to the Chiefs.

Looking at their division, Kansas City are 2-3 and the Broncos are even with the Los Angeles Chargers on 3-2 meaning they could make a run for the top of the division.

This hinges on which form Kansas City shows up they face because the Broncos {beat|def
