The President Calls Relatives of Shot Guard Personnel to White House

Former President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the loved ones of a Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the executive mansion.

He mentioned that he conversed with her family and they were “devastated”.

Details on the Devastating Shooting

US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a shooting on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in grave state.

Vigils across West Virginia have taken place in their honor.

White House Offer

The president explained he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the parents of both members of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” Trump told journalists. “And likewise with him, no matter the outcome.”

Community Response

Mourners gathered over the weekend at the high school in the state to honor Sarah.

Both they had been serving with the state guard as part of the president’s national effort to aid law enforcement in Washington DC.

Honoring Beckstrom

“She was the type of pupil that teachers desired. She behaved with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that inspired people around her,” Hankins, the principal of her former high school, told the press. “She was caring, considerate and always eager to support those in need.”

Service arrangements for Sarah are still being arranged.

Legal Steps and Policy Revisions

Authorities have indicted a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.

The event prompted the Trump administration to pause asylum processing and cease providing entry permits to owners of travel documents.

Status of the Airman

Wolfe, a resident of the city, started his military career in 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, per the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s governor Morrisey mentioned on television.

Attorney general Bondi stated on a news show that she also intended to meet with his relatives.

Impact of Sarah Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a military police officer with honor, according to the state guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had bravery,” Morrisey addressed the audience at the memorial. “Though her time ended too soon, she has created a legacy that’s going to endure.”
