The network's Top Fresh Series of 2025 Secures a Major Extension for Two More Seasons.

During the fall season, the late-night programming block saw the return of its offbeat hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, shortly thereafter, the channel launched a completely new animated series with a distinctly unique tone. Haha, You Clowns proved to be sweet and soothing, reminiscent of a animated take of a serene talk show. During a period often characterized by cynicism, this show's earnestness resonated deeply and turned it into a breakout hit.

A Major Commitment

In mid-December, Adult Swim confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for a further two seasons. This gives showrunner Joe Cappa ample opportunity to further explore the world of the Campbell family. The series focuses on three well-mannered teenage brothers whose central trait is their strong bond for their widowed father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four main characters.

"I am incredibly thankful to the viewers of the show who took a chance on the show and shared it with others," remarked Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for a little longer."

Executive Acclaim

In the same announcement praise from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "radically heartfelt and uniquely eerie." He shouted out the fans who found the show and advocated for its distinctly quirky style.

"All of you got behind this new show, rooted for it on social media, and helped it grow week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Comforting Counterpoint

Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a comforting antidote" to other adult animated fare. Viewers found something unexpectedly cozy about observing this endearing family go about their simple existence.

Previously, creator Joe Cappa shared his desire to help comedy break out of its current layer of irony. He traced this trend to various cultural shifts.

“We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we are trapped in,” explained Cappa. “It feels as if we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for 10 years, and we just have to laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.”

Future Seasons

Now, with Haha, You Clowns guaranteed to return, Cappa could potentially be part of that comedic shift. If nothing else, the renewal guarantees audiences additional episodes to bask in the heartfelt moments of the beloved Campbell clan.

The season 1 finale of Haha, You Clowns will premiere on December 21st. All episodes is available for streaming on HBO Max.
