Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed operations across the region in retaliation for a significant and ongoing offensive against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area near the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any impact is not yet known and the United States has yet to issue a statement.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - said they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites linked to the the regime, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.

Additional Developments

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and destroyed a number of missiles," it added.

The statement noted debris landed in a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
