Football Expert Chris Sutton Battles Artist Olly Murs in Premier League Predictions

The Gunners' 10-game victorious run was ended by the Black Cats prior to the international hiatus, however will the Premier League frontrunners recover against north London rivals Spurs this weekend?

"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," remarked soccer expert Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still find a way to win."

Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, versus AI, readers and a range of special visitors.

In the twelfth round, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a United supporter.

Murs' new album, Knees Up, is out on the weekend.

Football and Parenting Life

Olly is a talented soccer player as well as a successful artist and has been a featured player of several charity football games over time - but he is not planning a serious comeback as a footballer.

"{I actually played in a charity match the other night for a mate of mine," he explained. "My team was losing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!

"I continue to love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it seriously again.

"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my daughter or boy decides to play instead."

Murs and his wife his partner have a young family, their daughter and Albert, and he is ready to emulate his dad by becoming their manager.

"I won't push football on our kids but I've previously told my wife that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be coaching their weekend football side," he said.

"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly was involved with a soccer team for a while too.

"My dad did it with us when I was a child, which is likely where I inherited it. He managed our team for two or three years and had great fun with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Top Division Predictions

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to be patient for their star's return from fitness issues but their attack is now stronger with Joao Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.

In my opinion this fixture will be quite tight, though. The Clarets are disciplined and their sole at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.

It smells of a 1-1 draw to me, but I am actually going to choose the London side to edge it for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.

Sutton's prediction: 1-2

The singer's prediction: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have lost their previous couple games - albeit both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which surprised me.

In contrast, West Ham won two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they do look competitive again.

West Ham's only away win this season came at Nottingham Forest in August, when their manager Nuno was still that team's manager.

Therefore, what exactly do I go with here - will it be West Ham extending their run under Nuno, or Bournemouth responding?

I am going to go with the Cherries, because I think what happened against Aston Villa was a blip.

The pundit's prediction: 2-0

The guest's prediction: Bournemouth are performing strongly but the visitors have picked up under their boss. 2-2

AI's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were seen as one of the favourites for the drop before the season began, but they have surprised a several observers under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three wins in their last four matches.

A family member told me to get Brentford striker Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks ago and, guess what, I didn't listen.

The forward will probably score again on the weekend but I am still not going to select him or back the away side at Amex Stadium.

They have not had much success on the travel this season, and Brighton are consistently decent at home. The visitors will try to attack on the counter-attack but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's team carry much more of a danger.

Sutton's forecast: 2-1

The singer's view: This could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a many goals but it in reality proves to be quite tight. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a massive fixture for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their last six games.

They have got plenty of talent in their squad but it nonetheless feels like they could be sucked into a relegation battle.

As for Sunderland, well they are the surprise package of the top flight season so far.

Their display in the two-all draw with the Gunners last time out was superb. We have not witnessed anyone else rough up the North London side like that this term, and they were fully competitive for them.

The sensible thing to do to back the visitors here, because they are clearly able of disrupting Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they defeated the Blues at the end of last month.

But I am not choose that. Instead, I truly need to continue going against Sunderland with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they evidently love to prove me wrong.

Considering the home side's home record, the sole side they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Their manager's team will be absolutely desperate for a good outcome, so I am going to predict they will secure three much-needed points.

The expert's prediction: 1-0

The guest's prediction: I'm aware the visitors are doing well and also that the hosts are on a bad run... but they have still been decent at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0

The algorithm's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a tough fixture to predict. The Reds have lost seven of their past 10 games in every tournament, but could they be one of the teams who benefit from the {international break|
