Feeling So Sick Walking Was Impossible When a Man Virtually Carried Me to a Bathroom.

At the age of nineteenth year, my daily commute meant taking an packed public transport. It was perpetually full and invariably became standing room only when I got on.

During a certain commute, I started experiencing quite nauseous as the bus swayed around each corner. I kept telling myself to persevere for a few more stops so the bus could reached my stop, and then I could sprint quickly to the closest public toilet to be sick.

We were coming down the avenue close to the stop when I understood I wasn’t going to hold on. Suddenly, it seemed a veil came over me. My vision turned white and really quiet; similar to when one turned off the audio. I said to myself, “I am about to pass out”.

Luckily I was toward the front on the bus, so I took a few steps toward the driver and asked the driver to pull over, informing him I was going to be sick. The driver opened the entrance and I weakly exited out onto the street.

My intention was not to vomit in view of a busy multi-lane road, so I gathered myself and endeavored to make my way toward the green space opposite the street, where I believed I’d at least be able to secretly conceal myself near some foliage to vomit. But then I must have lost consciousness. I was aware of my body but I was unable to walk or see properly, so I began inching my way to my intended destination.

“You right, love?”

Right then, I was lifted up. I sensed someone holding me and a man’s voice asked, “Everything alright, love?” I told this mysterious stranger that I needed to get to a bathroom. Therefore, he almost carried me over to a close-by structure and placed me in the ladies’ toilets. He inquired whether I required him to remain with me but I said no.

A few minutes later, I regained my composure sufficiently to sit on the restroom floor when from beyond the stall I heard his voice asking, “Do you need anything, love? Is there anything you require?” I was incapable to rise just then but did manage to say thank you and shortly thereafter was able to move my limbs. I made my way home passing the next few days healing from what was later diagnosed as a severe stomach virus.

I never saw his features – just his lower half along with a sizable metal toolbox he was carrying – but he saved me, when I was in my weakest state.

Many times, life has a way of making you defensive, aggressive and competitive. What he did was the kind of action that undoes that hardening of the heart. He served as evidence that humanity’s innate tendency leans toward compassion, a quality I adore about my fellow humans.
