Ex- Physician Charged with Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Patients
Legal authorities have stated that a ex- doctor has been charged with committing assaults involving 38 victims who were under his care.
The Grave Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – some of which involve acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
One senior CPS official commented, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
The charges come after what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors said the 45 sexual offences comprise:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
