England Coach Southee Unsure on The Ashes Participation
Tim Southee's last Test match for New Zealand was against England in the final month of 2024.
England fast-bowling advisor Tim Southee is currently evaluating what his involvement will be during the forthcoming Ashes contest in Australia.
The former Kiwi pace bowler is expected to be available for the first Test because of his involvement in the International League T20 tournament, which starts on 2 December in the United Arab Emirates.
The 36-year-old, 36, assumed a role as England's pace bowling advisor in the summer after taking 391 wickets in 107 Tests for New Zealand.
Speaking as England's squad for the first of three Twenty20 games against New Zealand was named, he stated of his availability: "We're still working through that at the moment.
"We'll see the outcome over the coming days."
England bowling legend Broad had declared the Australia team as their "worst team since 2010", but Southee was in no uncertainty over the anticipated challenge during the series, which starts on November 21.
"In my view there's at any time a poor Aussie side," he remarked.
"The team's attention is firmly on what we're trying to do. In my opinion the quality of [the English] side that's going out to the host country is excellent.
"It should be an thrilling encounter, that series. Not only [are|do] English and Australian people eagerly anticipate it, I believe the entire cricketing community is."
However, before England travel to the city of Perth for the opening Ashes Test, they take on the Kiwis in the city of Christchurch on Saturday.
